"Why is the 'Send as Gift' Option Disabled for COD Points?"
Hey all, I’ve been trying to gift Call of Duty points (COD Points) to a friend through the Xbox Store, but every time I go to purchase them, the “Send as Gift” option is greyed out. I’ve checked a few different ways, and it seems like this option is simply unavailable for COD Points specifically.
After doing some research, I found that certain in-game currency items, like COD Points, are often restricted when it comes to gifting. This is because these types of virtual currencies are usually treated as non-transferable purchases in many online stores. Unlike regular games or downloadable content (DLC), which can be gifted easily, in-game currency like COD Points typically can't be sent to other users directly through Xbox’s gifting system.
One potential workaround is that you could instead buy the points yourself and then either give your friend the Xbox gift card equivalent of that amount, or simply buy them a gift card for use in the Microsoft Store. Your friend could use the gift card funds to purchase the COD Points themselves. Though it’s not the most direct solution, it’s currently one of the best ways to “gift” COD Points without the direct gifting option.
Has anyone else run into this issue? Would love to hear if there’s another solution or if this is just an unfortunate limitation for now.
